Electric Starts! and Renee and Kira visit!!
Renee and Kira were in town this weekend -
- and they came over on Sunday and helped finish ripping out the rest of the damaged flooring!!
On to the electrical..... so this is what we had to work with -
And this is the new stuff (so far)
Anybody notice what's missing in the above photo?
10 points if you said insulation. :( Yes, now we know for sure that the only insulation in the house is in the attic. It's funny how quickly priorities can change....

Check out "Airkrete" for insulation; its an environmentally friendly pumped-in insulation (I cant remember exactly what it is composed of...). Its a good application for existing stud framing with no insulation - a small hole is drilled into the cavity between each stud and the material pumped in.
Thanks - I haven't heard of that brand, but know of similar products. They are supposed to be quite good thermally, better than normal batts for sure. I'm not sure if this is a good way to go though, because within a year at most, we'd like to replace the windows and exterior siding anyway. With everything exposed, we could just lay in insulation then. I think it will be cheaper to do that way. Perhaps we could still do a blown cellulose or something similar, again, depending on the price. We may try to do the floor sooner though, and I have been looking into either formaldehyde-free batts or cotton insulation for that.
